Program Description:

The Department of Cognitive Neuroscience (DCN) offers a comprehensive Ph. D. & MSc. program encompassing both human and animal approaches to questions about functional organization and neural architecture of cognition. Specific areas of faculty interest include memory, addiction, neuromodulation of brain rhythms, modulation of synaptic plasticity; closed loop modulation, social neuroscience, studying neurobiology and molecular bases of human behavior, and studying the pathology and neuropsychology of diseases associated with central nervous system. The research of the cognitive neuroscience faculty makes use of an array of methods, including psychophysiological recordings (e.g. Eye-tracking, EEG, QEEG, and ERP), as well as in vivo recording in animals.

The DCN at the University of Tabriz was founded in 2002 to promote interdisciplinary research in the field of cognitive neuroscience. Scientists at the DCN have backgrounds in a variety of disciplines, including psychology and biology. The DCN is headed by Dr. S. Heysiyattalab.
