Department of Education

The primary goal of the department is to encourage students to make wise advantages of special programs, facilities and tools for purpose of enhancing human learning. To realize this end, Department of Education helps teachers and other practitioners use technology to improve the methods of teaching and learning. Conducting research, evaluation as well as applying developmental principles and methods are among other objectives the department follows. Different courses of designing instrumental materials as well as courses on research and teaching are offered in this department


history of the Education Department
Education field of the faculty was established in 1973 and according to the approval of Higher Council of Cultural Revolution, the name changed to Instructional Technology. The primary goal of the department is to encourage students to make wise advantages of special programs, facilities and tools for purpose of enhancing human learning. To realize this end, Department of Education helps teachers and other practitioners use technology to improve the methods of teaching and learning. Conducting research, evaluation as well as applying development principles and methods is among other objectives that the department follows. Different courses of designing instrumental materials as well as courses on research and teaching are offered in this department. So, there are trends of Education Sciences in BA, MA, and Ph.D. which is mentioned below:

A. Instructional Technology
-Improvement of education plan
-Providing committed and skilled people to manage centers of teaching materials and taking advantage of educational equipment and accessories
-Training of committed and skilled people resources for educational designing and establishing educational periods in all educational centers consisted of both formal and informal education
-Supplying educational technologists to participate in the planning of teacher training


B. Preschool Education
-Teacher training and manager for pre-school
-Expert training of the preparation of educational materials for pre-school centers
-Expert of training and planning of Welfare Organizations-Institutes of Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults
-Ministry of Education’s expert

2-MA fields of study

A. Educational Psychology (MA and Ph.D.)
-Teacher training for teaching courses in the universities
-Researcher training for Educational Psychology
-Training of committed and skilled people in higher education for related centers and organizations, such as welfare and education
-Curriculum studies (MA and Ph.D.)
-Training of expert in curriculum studies according to Islamic world
-Developing of related BA students’ knowledge and information

-Training of committed and skilled teachers and researcher to educate people
-Training committed and skilled people for designing, performing and evaluating 0f educational courses in all formal and informal organizations and centers (staff training centers)

C. Human resource development and training (MA)
Industrial age and a large number of young people entering the labor market also, changes in technology and product cycles, the need to train and updating of knowledge, have increased skills and flourishing of the talents of human resources. Therefore, the major of the Education and Development of Human Resources was established in the world’s great universities, by the experts and executives of the mentioned parts and first, it was approved at Shahid Beheshti University, in 2003.
Considering the bright prospects in this area, how community and specially companies and large organizations be aware of such course, the ability and capacity of such courses will be more visible in advancement of their goals also, the labor market of this course will be expanded day by day. Due to the fact that Tabriz is one the countries major cities, and a lot of institutions, factories, organizations, formal and governmental and non-governmental agencies are working in, so, by trying of some experts, the course of Education and Development of Human Resources established at the University of Tabriz, and since 2013, began with the admission of 12 students.
It should be mentioned that in curriculum of Education and Development of Human Resources’ course, there are many similarities with the course of Educational Management; so these two courses have similar lessons and coefficients in master’s exam. Subjects as human resources management, in-service training, teaching methods, organizational improvement, organizational behavior, and etc. are taught in this course. 


2-Laboratory facilities
Department of Education is equipped with laboratories of educational technology which has studio and assembly room. The laboratory established in 1982, simultaneously with the creation of Educational Technology trend. The purpose of the establishment of the laboratory was servicing to teacher training courses and of Educational Technology’s practical courses of other faculties. In this regard, audiovisual equipment was purchased. So, tools such as projector, APEC, slide, film strip, overhead, Betamax camcorder, 8 and 16mm cameras for film were bought and tools for editing and displaying of them were taken subsequently. Also, photographers were bought for practical training of educational technology and darkroom was established. Over time, small television studio was created for recording of the students’ practical programs, and a learning center (audio-visual room) was made, too. Currently, educational technology has learning center which is equipped with video projector and other digital tools, also there are educational television studio and several digital cameras for students’ photography lessons.
